Extra Jesus Dot Com

The group Jews for Jesus is currently running some advertising in New York City and apparently not everyone is happy with this. Personally, I think it’s hilarious. Why shouldn’t they use advertising? Some guy in the article is quoted as saying “I personally don’t think religion has any place in advertising…” but I don’t hear him screaming about religion and our government. Whatevs, I say that if you have the budget use whatever advertising you can. Another article about it here.

This old (December 2002!) Popular Mechanics article has been making the rounds on the internets today for some reason. The article claims that British scientists have what they believe to be the most accurate image of Jesus. I think that’s a pretty bold claim to make but the picture seems more real to me than the one that I grew up with (in Mormon churches there is always a picture of Jesus and he has fair skin, light eyes, long straight hair). What do you think?

Some idiot is shooing a pilot for a show about Jesus. Funny thing is that it’s his second time playing Jesus. Hey buddy, got a complex?

Well-known smut writer Anne Rice has apparently turned back to Christianity and now her novel about Jesus is being made into a film. Are we going to see a wave of has-beens suddenly “turning” to Jesus in a last desperate attempt to be seen one last time before disappearing into obscurity and selling records in Canada?

Why is it that the image of Jesus always shows up in a tortilla? I like what they say about where the tortilla currently is:
“It’s at my mom’s house, on a plate.” Sounds safe to me, just don’t fix any huevos rancheros for breakfast.

This article mentions winning tickets to see this show.

Down in southern Georgia (where I lived for awhile when I was a kid) one lucky man has seen both the Virgin Mary and Jesus in his yard. Says William Richard who has been seeing visions in his yard since 1996, “I have been chosen to unite the twelve tribes of Israel when He gives me the verse, and I am to drop everying and just go to Persia.“
