I need to know what is up with Jesus. It has been a year since his last sighting.

But, now being in a red (in the bad way) state, I can now offer you some insider dope from our local rag of a newspaper:

[...] The little town of Chiquinquira, Columbia, has put itself on the map because a woman has found Jesus in her wall. The image of Jesus appeared during the week of Easter and the Vatican is sending out experts to take a look at the wall. This Jesus wall is not to be confused with the other Jesus wall that I wrote about. [...]

"Very much Mormon..." Yeah, I had a feeling. I myself am a "reformed" Mormon. I agree with you about the historical Jesus, I'll see what I can do about putting more content up related to that. Thanks for the suggestion!

I am very much Mormon. I am also somewhat interested in the historical Jesus, although with a believer's views of Jesus as the Christ. If I could suggest adding a few more posts on that if you can find them. After all, Jesus came from somewhere and lived someplace- even if what he did was of eternal significants.

Thanks so much Jettboy, what a nice compliment. Good for you knowing that Jesus' name is really Joshua, I'm surprised at the amount of ignorance out there...are you Mormon or do you just like writing about Mormonism?

It is real, as the .gov address shows. It is funny in a wierd sort of way. Still, Jesus and Mary are very typical spanish names. Then again, Jesus (Joshua) and Mary (not sure the actual name) were typical 1 Century Hebrew names.

I am really enjoying your blog. It has the right mix of serious and humorous articles.

Jettboy, you're right, the article doesn't say much. It's actually just another attempt to capitalize on the name of Jesus. Funny, the Mormons believe that having a mortal body is necessary to enter the "highest level of Heaven" and you speak of how some Christian Gnostics think he may have pretended to become a human. Just goes to show that even though it's all Christianity there are many differences.

Interesting, but I don't see the article's point. Of course I agree we are all related, and there aren't any scientists that have that in doubt. How closely related we are is up for speculation. Don't think we are going to have Jesus' DNA any time soon. Then again, many early Christian Gnostics thought Jesus was just a spirit who only "pretended" to take on human form. This evil nasty mortal body and all. In the end, he does ask us all to become Sons and Daughters of God. That should count for something.

At any rate - Happy Easter.
