Maybe Jesus didn’t walk on water

Posted in Jesus In The News on April 3rd, 2006

The Times has a piece that basically says Jesus may have been walking on ice. I think it’s funny that people are trying to draw conclusions on something that may have happened two thousand years ago…

Jesus does not like porn stars

Posted in Jesus In The News on April 2nd, 2006

Well, apparently bible printers don’t like porn stars. It looks as though the founders of xxxchurch.com tried to get some bibles printed with the slogan “Jesus loves porn stars” but got the kibosh at the last minute.

Jesus of today would hang out in a coffeeshop

Posted in Jesus In The News on March 30th, 2006

The Washington Times is reporting that Jesus would most likely hang out in a coffeeshop if he were walking around today. I guess it’s possible, but aren’t coffeeshops quiet places now days? Any time I walk into a coffeeshop I feel like I’ve stepped into a library. People are working away on laptops and generally keeping to them selves. I think if Jesus were alive today he might be hanging out in bars. Hmm, maybe taco places as well.

Pope says that Christianity is a relationship with Jesus and not an ideology

Posted in Jesus In The News on March 27th, 2006

I don’t really know much about the Pope. I usually don’t listen to what he has to say because I’m not a Catholic. This time though, I think I can agree with him. This article reminds us that Jesus died on the cross to take care of the whole sin thing for everyone. This means that those who practice Christianity must remember that all sin is forgiven at this point and that God is not punishing anyone anymore.

Pimping suicide, Pimping Jesus

Posted in Jesus In The News on March 27th, 2006

The author of this article compares the suicide bombers of the Middle East with ministers of the West. He discusses how “pimps” are used to recruit and train suicide bombers and talks about Western ministers as “pimps” for Jesus.

Is the Second Coming of Jesus unnecessary?

Posted in Jesus In The News on March 27th, 2006

I was digging around and found this article, where Rev. Jeannie Whitehurst discusses God’s role in current natural disasters. She says that since Jesus already died for our sins that God isn’t interested in punishing us anymore. I think this is a great theory but it is mentioned in the article that if this were true then the oft-prophesised Second Coming wouldn’t be necessary. The Reverend admits that she does not have an easy answer to that one. Read the article over at The Ranger.
