The ACLU hates Jesus

Posted in Jesus in Politics on April 17th, 2006

While I appreciate the ACLU and think they are VERY necessary I think they can go too far sometimes. Here we have someone that was informed that praying was okay, but not in the name of Jesus because it is probably offending someone. Listen, praying of any sort at a public meeting with government officials shouldn’t happen, it’s called the separation of Church and State. Instead of coming down on the guy for praying in Jesus’ name they should be focusing their resources on more life-and-death matters, or protesting prayer at public meetings. I am appalled at the lack of separation of Church and State in our government and I don’t believe that Christian extremists should be running things, it is against our Constitution and nobody seems to care.

Tom DeLay compares himself to Jesus?

Posted in Jesus in Politics on April 10th, 2006

Is this true? I don’t watch "Good Morning America" so I can’t confirm that he actually did that. The author of this article goes on to compare Tom to Tony Soprano, which seems more fitting. Weird, there seems to be a sort of politician-thinks-he-is-Jesus thing going around.

Would Jesus vote Democrat?

Posted in Jesus in Politics on April 7th, 2006

Don Nolte writes that people should be carefully considering what political party really stands for Christian values. He is critical of the current administration and says that we should hold accountable those that have lied about going to a war, illegal wiretaps, etc. While the term “Christian values” doesn’t mean very much to me I definitely agree with Don, read his article here.

Death penalty not in keeping with the Gospel of Jesus

Posted in Jesus In The News, Jesus in Politics on March 27th, 2006

Gary Gardiner, a Christian Reverend, has written a letter expressing his belief that the dealth penalty is not the Christian way as Jesus intended. He makes a good argument about how the death penalty in the bible comes from the Old Testament and if we are to follow that than we should stone ourselves as well. He also mentions how Love is the Fullfillment of the Law and if that is true than the death penalty certainly does not show love, or forgiveness for that matter. Read the letter over at Jamaica Gleaner News.

Alan Davis letter says to do what Jesus would do

Posted in Jesus In The News, Jesus in Politics on March 27th, 2006

Alan Davis has written a letter scolding the government for introducing legislation that would ban gay marriage. In the letter he says, “If you’re a politician who represents Minnesotans, your job is not to try to forbid legal behavior that makes you uncomfortable or to pad your resume with paranoid edicts, but to help anyone among us who is sick, or old, or poor. That’s what Jesus would do.” Read the entire contents of the letter at In-Forum.
