Well-known smut writer Anne Rice has apparently turned back to Christianity and now her novel about Jesus is being made into a film. Are we going to see a wave of has-beens suddenly “turning” to Jesus in a last desperate attempt to be seen one last time before disappearing into obscurity and selling records in Canada?
If you’re going to be in Dublin, Ireland this Wednesday, July 5, you might want to check out this one-man show called “Jesus: The Guantanamo Years!” The premise sounds to be something like Jesus has returned to Earth only he finds himself imprisoned in ol’ Gitmo. This article mentions winning tickets to see this show.
The Stage is reporting that the BBC is making their own Jesus drama and it’s set to be released sometime around Easter 2008. I’m not sure if this will be too late to take advantage of all the recent Jesus stuff that’s been going on but I always welcome new Jesus documentaries.
Here’s a press release for the very first black Jesus film, “Color of the Cross.” Looks pretty interesting, hopefully this will get distributed everywhere and not just in Los Angeles, people need to realize that Jesus wasn’t a white guy…
