Site where Jesus turned water into wine is currently being excavated

Posted in Uncategorized on April 17th, 2006

Well now, this is interesting. Looks like archaeologists are excavating what very well may be the area where Jesus turned water into wine. It’s hard to believe that after all these years there are actually some urns intact. The lead archaeologist notes that while there’s no scientific basis in the miracles it is nice to be able to provide a backdrop to the narrative of the Bible. Read more at the World Peace Herald.

The U.S. military is the same as Jesus?

Posted in Uncategorized on April 17th, 2006

Some dude, well, the son of Billy Graham actually, compared the sacrfices of today’s military to that of Jesus. Hmm. Ah. Uh. I have no idea what to say. Uh…first of all, the military KILLS PEOPLE. Something that Jesus would never do. Secondly, there are THOUSANDS OF SOLDIERS and Jesus was one guy. I’m not really sure where Frank was going with his message but I wish I’d been there to get a little more clarification.

Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal

Posted in Jesus in Print on April 15th, 2006

With all of the non-fiction Jesus books that are floating around it’s easy to forget that there are some wonderful fiction books about him as well. Take, for instance, Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. This is a wonderful book that is told from the perspective of Biff, a friend of Jesus as he was growing up. Christopher Moore is a very talented and funny writer. Initially, I was worried about how this story would be told but as long as you have a sense of humor you don’t really have to worry about anything. There’s not much in the book that would be considered “sacreligious” but it is extremely funny nonetheless. Follow Jesus and his buddy Biff as they go on spiritual quests, invent lattes, and kick some butt when needed. If you’re getting tired of all of the “serious” Jesus stuff that’s around right now, pick this book up. You’ll laugh out loud and wonder why you didn’t buy it sooner.

Drive-Thru Jesus

Posted in Jesus In The News on April 15th, 2006

Portsmouth has the coolest – a drive-thru life of Jesus! Looks like the event only happens for four days though…I’d love to see something like this operating all year long. Maybe you could do it like a car wash and have the car attach itself to a self-propelled thingy, this way the driver could sit back and enjoy the show as well, maybe have a refreshing beverage while the ride lasts…

Actor who portrays Jesus gets seriously injured

Posted in Jesus In The News on April 15th, 2006

Read the article here at Khaleej Times. Have you ever noticed that people who portray Jesus end up getting hurt? I remember a story similar to this when "The Passion of the Christ" was being filmed. You’d think that people would learn to stay away from the Jesus roles…

Another Jesus Joke

Posted in Uncategorized on April 14th, 2006

Don’t know why this never occurred to me. Funny and safe for the kids, that’s what I like. I’d like to see a coffeetable sort of book devoted to funny Jesus situations such as this one, has anyone ever done one of these? You could have Jesus go hunting with the VP, maybe put Jesus in a cannabis club…I wish I were more artistically-inclined in the drawing and painting arts, I’d love to do my own Jesus comic…

Uncle Jesus

Posted in Uncategorized on April 14th, 2006

Is Jesus your uncle? This article says most likely not. I’ve often wondered about things like this. If I am to believe the Bible that everything started with Adam and Eve then aren’t we all related when it comes right down to it? Seems to me that if there were only two people responsible for the billions of people we now have then there must have been a lot of incest in the early days. I’m no math wiz or geneticist but that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it. The Mormons believe that Jesus is our brother and that we knew him in Heaven before we were here on Earth. What are your thoughts about this?
